Annual General Meetings


Annual general meetings are held on a Thursday, this year (2008) on 20th November. All members of affiliated clubs are welcome to attend.

At the annual general meetings, the results of the four club competitions - Digital Photography, Club Newsletter, Club Website and Creative Writing are announced, and certificates awarded.

The guidelines for each of these competitions are similar to 2007 guidelines, except for the Creative Writing Competition guidelines which have been changed for the 2008 competition.

2007 AGM

ASCCA's 2007 AGM was held on November 15.

The winners of four competitions were announced.

The winner of the Newsletter Competition was Computer Pals for Seniors - The Hills (Castle Hill).

The Website Competition was won by Mangrove Mountain Computer Club.

Runners up in this category were: Hurstville Seniors Computer Club (second) and Muswellbrook Seniors Computer Club - a brand new club in 2007 - came third.

An honourable mention was given to the AUSOM Club - a Melbourne based club for MAC users.

Seniors Week events

TechnoSeniors EXPOs and other ASCCA and club events

Every year during Seniors Week - funding permitting - ASCCA holds TechnoSeniors EXPOs and promotes Seniors Week computer club events on its website.

Many of these events are funded by the NSW Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care (DADHC) and the NSW Public Trustee.

ASCCA's annual two day conferences in Sydney

In 2008, ASCCA will celebrate its 10th birthday. Expect the 10th Annual Conference to be better than ever. It will be held on Wednesday and Thursday 27th and 28th August at Sydney's Powerhouse Museum.

9th Annual Conference, August 27-28, 2007

ASCCA's 2007 conference was held at the Powerhouse Museum on Monday and Tuesday 27th and 28th August, 2007.

8th Annual Conference, September 5-6, 2006

Last year's conference, held in the Sydney Mechanics School of Arts building, at 280 Pitt Street, was the most popular ever. For full details, including photos and presentations, go to 8th Annual Conference.

ASCCA's Queensland forum

Inaugural Queensland Forum, September 30, 2006

ASCCA's first Forum for Queensland club members and others was held at Ferny Grove in northern Brisbane. For full details, including photos and presentations, go to Queensland Forum 2006.

ASCCA's annual residential workshops

Periodically, ASCCA holds a residential workshop, out of Sydney, most recently in Newcastle. There will be no residential workshop in 2008.

Digital Cinematography: 4th Annual Residential Workshop, May 7-8th, 2007

ASCCA's 2007 workshop was held at the Bimet Executive Lodge, 121 Union Street, The Junction (Newcastle, NSW).

Presenters and workshop leaders included Emma McKenny from Yarnteen, Annette Stuckey from Westlakes Seniors Computer Club, Sandra Brophey from Computer Pals for Seniors - Forest; and Tony Lenn from the ASCCA Office/ Mosman Seniors Computer Club. Sessions included Microsoft MovieMaker, PhotoStory 3 and storyboarding. Whilst one group was attending practical sessions on these applications, the other group participated in discussions on blogging - using Wordpress, RSS feeds and using IPODs and other media players.

ASCCA's quarterly club members meetings

Apart from the AGM and annual two day conference, ASCCA holds quarterly meetings, in Sydney at Level 1, 280 Pitt Street, for interested club members.

Participants - management committee members and other interested club members - can expect to be briefed about ASCCA activities, share innovative club ideas and activities and listen to interesting speakers.

ASCCA's local events

ASCCA holds a number of local events, ranging from public forums to establish the potential to develop computer clubs in new areas; train-the-trainer courses for clubs in a specific area; and hands-on computer courses in isolated or otherwise needy areas.
